Cherry Crunch Pie

Graham cracker pie crust filled with prepared cherry pie filling and topped with mixture of sugar, light brown sugar, all-purpose flour, quick cooking oats, and melted butter. Pie is baked until top is golden brown and filling is bubbling.

Ingredients -
1 Ready-Made Graham Cracker Pie Crust
1 Egg Yolk, beaten
1 (30 ounces) can Cherry Pie Filling
1 tablespoon Corn Starch mixed with 1 tablespoon Water
2 tablespoons Sugar
2 tablespoons Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
1/3 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/3 cup Quick Cooking Oats
3 tablespoons Butter, melted
 
Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Brush ready-made graham cracker crust with egg yolk. Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes.

3. Pour cherry pie filling into large bowl.

4. Pour cornstarch mixture into cherry pie filling.

5. Spoon the cherry pie filling into prepared graham cracker crust.

6. Add sugar, light brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and quick cooking oats to a large bowl. Stir to combine.

7. Stir in melted butter.

8. Spoon the sugar mixture evenly over cherry pie filling.

9. Bake 35 minutes.

10. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.

 



Cherry Pie Making Tip -
Baking Beans and Pie Weights

Baking beans or pie weights can be purchased at supermarkets, specialty food and kitchen retailers. The beans or weights are placed inside of empty pie crusts during the first 15 minutes of baking. The crust is removed from the oven, the weights are removed and the crust is cooled before use in recipes.

The Right Pie Pan

For the best results when baking pies and tarts use a dull metal or glass pie pan. Avoid using disposable pie pans whenever possible.
